Torchlight II has four all new classes to play. The outlander is a gun slinging dual wielder with some potent magic spells, the embermage is the magic wielder with a focus on elemental casting, the berserk emphasizes the use of one handed, quick weapons and mental instability and the engineer is a tank/support character who can summon different robots to aid him, use powerful two handed hammers or utilize a sword and shield setup.
Each class has its own charge bar mechanic; a special piece of the UI that grants special bonuses after gaining the maximum number of charges.
Another new addition to the game is full character custimization. Runic Games has added the ability to select character gender as well as a handful of cosmetic changes, to distinguish your character from everyone elses while playing the new online co-op feature.

With this build, most enemies are dead before they reach you.
This Outlander kills at range while keeping enemies at bay.
The build offensively rules with Long Range Mastery, Akimbo, Marksmanship, Dual Wielding, huge amount of Strength, and of course, Dual Pistol.
It keeps enemies at distance with Rune Vault, Bramble Wall, and Repulsion Hex.
Finally, it is supported by Shadowlings, Stone Pact, Share the Wealth and Dodge Mastery.

Strength (325 Stat Points)
Put massive points on this stat to deal huge amount of weapon and critical hit damage.
Dexterity (120 Stat Points)
Why only 120 Stat points?
Too much dexterity plus Charge, Dodge Mastery and Share the Wealth won’t add more to dodge chance.
You get more critical hit chance from Charge, Share the Wealth and Outlander armor set.
Finally, you will get more dexterity from Outlander armor set.
Vitality (50 Stat Points)
You’re going to need some vitality if planning to play elite difficulty.

Warfare (40 Skill Points)
Rune Vault (10 Skill Points)
Your active skill for escaping danger, it allows you to move away backward leaving enemies blinded and knockback.
Long Range Mastery (15 Skill Points)
Permanently increases the range and damage of your pistol.
Max this skill first.
Akimbo (15 Skill Points)
Permanently increases the damage and chance to execute with pistol. It allows your Outlander to often strike with both pistol even without focus stats.
Max this skill first.
Lore (31 Skill Points)
Bramble Wall (5 Skill Points)
This skill keeps your enemy at range distance.
Just put 5 skill points for resource efficiency.
Dodge Mastery (10 Skill Points)
Torchlight 2 Character Builds Necromancer
It increases your dodge chance permanently. This is helpful since the build only distributes 120 stat points to dexterity.
Poison Burst (1 Skill Point)
A single point is enough to put some chance to deal poison damage when you kill enemy.
Share the Wealth (15 Skill Points)

The hex pushes back enemies that draw too near, keeping them at bay.
Skill has chance to cause flee and interrupt on enemies.
Stone Pact (15 Skill Points)
Overall defensive skill for the whole party providing health recovery, bonus to all armor, and damage reflect back on attacker.
A must have for the group.
Shadowling Brute (15 Skill Points)
The Shadowlings summon will take care of melee combat for you. Having some companion divides your enemies making your Outlander lesser prone to damage.
Brute is your main companion powered by Death Ritual to increase its damage more and makes it always available.
Shadowling Ammo (11 Skill Points)
Put all your remaining skill points here.
It grants chance to spawn Shadowling Bats when you kill enemy.
The passive skill allows you to spawn multiple Shadowlings that can swarm enemies.
The skill complements with Death Ritual passive.
Death Ritual (15 Skill Points)
The passive power up for your Shadowlings, it increases their damage and summon duration.
Spell Tome
Spell: Haste
The spell allows you to move and attack faster.
Mainly, what I like about the spell is the movement speed bonus and the cooldown.
Tome: Marksmanship
Permanently increases the power of your range weapon.
Tome: Dual Wielding
Permanently increases the power of your pistols as long as it is dual wielded.
Tome: Animal Handling
The tome permanently powers up your pet and shadowlings.
Equipment Affixes Priority
Dual Wield Pistol
The main required equipment for this build is to dual pistol. The most high end weapon of course is recommended.
Health stolen on hit
Having health stolen on hit is a must for survival. You need it for insurance even the build has the skill to keep enemies at range distance.
Attack speed
Attack speed increases your damage per second and health stolen on hit.
Critical hit chance
More critical hit chance is still welcome for this build to let you damage more.
Bonus power to pet and minions
Don’t forget to power up your companion because they contribute really well to your survival.

- This is my first full play through on Torchlight 2 believe it or not, I was always a Diablo/POE/Grim Dawn guy.I must say though, this build is simply fantastic, blasted my way through the campaign with absolutely no problem. Currently working on Map Works right now, but only lvl. 55 so I still have a ways to go.Well done sir.

Torchlight 2 Character Builds
Are you working yourself into a bestial rage trying to decide on a build for your Torchlight 2 berserker? We have just the thing for that! Well, actually, it will probably just make you angrier. But when you're a berserker, that's generally a good thing. Best if used in conjunction with our Torchlight 2 Class Guide , which will be updated with new builds as we release them.
A note on respecs
By default, Torchlight 2 only allows you to respec your last three skill points (at a steep cost.) Thus, you may already be so far in that these builds are impossible to use. Luckily, if you want the freedom to redistribute all of your skill points at any time, the game supports it. You'll just have to follow a few steps. NOTE: This will give your character a visible cheater flag beside your name in multiplayer, just like editing the stats file does. Some people have a problem with that. Others don't. Just a fair warning.
- Find your Torchlight 2 save folder, usually under Documents/My Games/Runic Games/Torchlight 2/save.
- Open settings.txt, and find the line that says 'CONSOLE :0', which should be third from the top. Change it to 'CONSOLE :1'.
- Save the text file, load up a character, and hit INSERT to bring up the console. Type 'ITEM RespecPotion'. It will appear at your feet.
- Quaff away to refund all spent skill points. This also has the benefit of letting you choose your starting attack skill on a new character, instead of having to use the default one.
- It's also worth noting that, as far as we can tell, only characters that actually use the spawn item command will be cheater flagged. Just enabling the console shouldn't mess up your whole account.

All of the following builds have been tested on Veteran difficulty.
Berserker Build: The Dire Wolf
Who needs a right mouse button? This build will start you off buffing your passives for crit, charge, and lifesteal while relying mostly on auto-attacks for damage. Fights with lots of enemies will be tough until your mid- to late 20s, when you'll start picking up better area attacks and multi-hit effects.
Gear Choice
Dual fist weapons are where it's at. Keep the focus on grievous single-target damage, and build charge so you can hit Frenzy and turn into a human lawnmower as fast as possible. Attack speed, bonus Dual Wield damage, and lightning damage are all excellent with this build, in addition to pure armor and resistance due its fragility.
Stat Points
Strength and Dexterity should always be primary. Put at least two of your five points at each level up into each of them, for damage and crits. Your remaining point can rotate between your 'dump' stats. Vitality will need to get some love if you don't want to be dropping a fortune on revives. I would try not to let it fall too far below two thirds of your total level. Best harley evo spark plugs. Focus is also useful in that it increases your execute chance while dual wielding. If you're dying a lot, put your fifth point into Vitality. If it's not an issue at the moment, invest in Focus.
Once you get to the point that Strength and Dexterity are close to or over 50 (ignoring gear), you can start dropping some points from them into other things. I would still recommend putting at least one point per level into each for your entire career, though.
Levels 1-25
Initially, you want to focus almost entirely on your passives. Keep Blood Hunger and Executioner (Hunter tree) as well as Frenzy Mastery (Shadow tree) maxed. These create a great synergy of letting you Frenzy more often and longer, while granting you great lifesteal while frenzying. Even as 'glass cannon' as this build is, with those passives maxed, you can usually go toe-to-toe with any boss while in Frenzy and have enough lifesteal to completely or mostly offset their damage.
If you can't put points into any of the above, put them in Stormclaw (Tundra tree) and later Wolf Strike (Hunter Tree), prioritizing the latter once Stormclaw has reached Tier 1. This will give you some multi-target damage as well as excellent mobility, which you will find yourself in desperate need of on certain bosses.
Levels 26-50
Battle Rage (Hunter tree) should become your top priority (after passives) as soon as you unlock it. If you find yourself with all three passives, Wolf Strike , Stormclaw , and Battle Rage maxed, consider going into Rampage (Hunter) and Shred Armor (Shadow). When Ravage (Hunter) unlocks at level 42, getting it to Tier 1 should become your top priority after your core three passives for its boss-shredding ability. Then, go back to having Battle Rage be your priority active skill.
Levels 51-100
Keep maxing out everything above, including the Rampage and Shred Armor passives. When you have free points, grab some Cold Steel Mastery (Tundra) for a pure DPS boost. Rage Retaliation (Tundra) can also be useful. If you want more active buttons to press, you can go the Raze (Hunter) route, doing huge damage while you're in Frenzy (but it doesn't build charge, so should only be used in Frenzy), or Rupture (Hunter) for more AoE damage. Beyond all that, it's mostly up to you. Enjoy the bloodbath.
Tossing around the chaotic energies of the universe can be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. Alright, alright—it's still really dangerous even when you do know what you're doing. But with the help of this guide, you can make it more dangerous for your enemies than it is for yourself and your friends. And that's really what matters in the end, isn't it?

Embermage Build: The Stormbringer
Utter chaos. This build will give your enemies nowhere to run and nowhere to hide, flooding the screen with torrential damage in enough shapes and colors to make the National Weather Service throw up their hands in defeat. It lacks stun attacks, but you should be doing enough damage over a wide enough area that your crowd control is essentially: 'The crowd is now dead.'
Gear Choice
I like staves, but this build can work just as well with dual wands. Go with whatever will get you the most damage output and mana sustainability. You'll need a lot of mana.
Stat Points
Remember three seconds ago when I said you'll need a lot of mana? Still true. Put at least three stat points into Focus every level until it gets up around 90 (ignoring gear). The remaining two points can be distributed however you want to shore up your other stats: don't let Vitality get too far below two thirds of your total level if you don't just really enjoy dying. Dexterity gives you dodge chance, which never hurts. And strength can come in handy if and when you do run out of mana and have to whack things.
Levels 1-25
Your core skill starting off is going to be Prismatic Bolt (Storm tree). Combine it with some points in Charge Mastery (Inferno tree) and Hailstorm (Frost tree). Once you hit 14, grab Thunder Locus (Storm). By combining it with Hailstorm , you can start to create vast areas of static damage, or layer them to spell impending doom for everything in a small area. All the while, flood the affected region with Prismatic Bolts .
Any spare points you find yourself with can go into Elemental Attunement (Inferno) and Lightning Brand (Storm). Avoid Shocking Burst . As far as I can tell, across all four classes, it is the most useless skill in the game.
Levels 26-50
Other than picking up Death's Bounty (Storm), which you should prioritize immediately until it hits Tier 2, and Shockbolts (Storm), this is a good time to focus on your passives. Lightning Brand in particular should get some attention, as you'll be replacing Prismatic Bolt with Shockbolts in many scenarios. If you're okay with using respec potions, I would even go so far as to pull all of your points out of Prismatic Bolts once Shockbolts unlocks, and put the latter on right mouse. There will still be some times when Prismatic Bolts are better, such as a large group of enemies in a very wide open area, though, so it's up to you.
Free points can be dropped into Prismatic Rift (Storm), especially if you're having survivability issues.
Levels 51-100
As you continue to max everything mentioned above, you might as well pick up Firestorm (Inferno) to complete your Raining Death From the Sky Trifecta. Because why the hell not, right? This is also the point at which I'd commit to either wands or staves (if you haven't already) and start putting points in the corresponding passive. Staff Mastery (Frost) will get you more bang for your buck out of your elemental attacks, while Wand Chaos (Storm) will add more insanity to every battle.
Beyond that, you could invest some more in the Frost tree and in passives like Ice Brand , but only if you've taken enough freezing skills to make it worth the points. Shocking Orb (Storm) is another fun one to mess around with, sending it lumbering through your thundering killzone before flooding its wake with Shockbolts . Try to always live by the rule of thumb that if there is anything on screen that is not being electrocuted, frozen, burned, or killed in some other horrible way, you're probably doing it wrong.

- Make sure your cross-character stash is empty, as this process will overwrite it. This can be easily accomplished by creating a new character, and moving everything from the shared stash into their personal stash.

- Your shared character stash will now be filled with Respec Potions. Quaff away to refund all spent skill points. This also has the benefit of letting you choose your starting attack skill on a new character, instead of having to use the default one.
- Unlike the similar method that uses console commands, this will not flag your character as a cheater in multiplayer.

Engineer Build: The Gentleman With The Large, Flaming Object
A proper gentleman need be well-educated, practice good dental hygiene, and always be prepared to set large numbers of ruffians screaming through the air in flames with a nice whack from his trusty tools of mayhem. This build will make you a master of the melee, the foremost at fisticuffs; turning iron jaws to glass with the power of smoke and steam.
Gear Choice
Great weapons are essential, you need not tarry with diminutive odds and ends. Greataxes, greathammers, greatswords, and polearms will all serve your purposes nicely. Bonus fire damage, bonus electric damage, and armor penetration are always fine choices.
Stat Points
Having your wits about you will carry you just so far - you also need to be strong of arm to handle the kind of hardware this build requires. Two points per level, and often more, should go into Strength. Do not neglect Vitality, either, as you will more often than not be right in the thick of things, being attacked from all sides. Focus is important as well, to keep your machines of destruction running on pure, high-grade mana. And throw Dexterity a point now and then, just so it doesn't feel left out.
Levels 1-25
The key skills that make up this well-oiled demolition engine are Flame Hammer and Ember Hammer (Blitz tree). The former is your raw damage stand-by, while the latter will clear away those pesky shields right quick. Remember to use Ember Hammer only when your charge is high and the need is immediate, as it does not build charge. Passives like Heavy Lifting and Supercharge (Blitz), as well as Fire and Spark (Construction), also demand attention, increasing your pain output with large, unwieldy objects and giving you more charge to kick those damage skills into overdrive.
Once Onslaught (Blitz) unlocks at 21, add it to your priority list as it provides excellent battlefield mobility, a must for any front-line fighter in Torchlight 2.
Levels 26-50
Ember Reach (Blitz) should join your arsenal as a way to lock down those pesky ne'er do wells that have the audacity to turn and flee from an honorable duel. Storm Burst (Blitz) can give you a differently-flavored movement skill, but I find it too redundant to use at the same time as Onslaught , so grab a respec potion if you want to try it out and pick one or the other. Dynamo Field and Overload (Aegis) make a devastating combo with Onslaught , but will require you to neglect your passives to get them up to speed.
Levels 51-100
You should now be able to start maxing your passives, or the Onslaught/Dynamo Field/Overload combo, depending on what you let fall behind in the earlier levels. You can start funneling some points into Coup de Grace (Blitz), and if you find yourself dying a lot, some survivability skills like Charge Domination and Bulwark (Construction), or Aegis of Fate (Aegis). Emberquake (Blitz) is always tempting, of course, and layers well with your other AoE attacks as it does not consume charge. Just be sure you have the mana to support it. Tremor (Aegis) is also a less all-or-nothing alternative to Overload , but I would not recommend taking both.
